FILM NIGHT - The Thursday Murder Club

Based on Richard Osman's international bestselling novel of the same name, THE THURSDAY MURDER CLUB follows four irrepressible retirees - Elizabeth (Helen Mirren), Ron (Pierce Brosnan), Ibrahim (Ben Kingsley) and Joyce (Celia Imrie) - who spend their time solving cold case murders for fun. When an unexplained death occurs on their own doorstep, their casual sleuthing takes a thrilling turn as they find themselves with a real whodunit on their hands.

NOTE: The film will be screened in the Village Hall (not the church) on Wednesday the 17th September at 7.30 pm.  We hope this will not be too much of a shock to the traditionalists, as we can offer comfy seats, warmth and toilets apart from our usual tea and cakes!

FILM NIGHT - Judy

Our film for March, which will be shown on the 19th March at 7.30pm, is 'Judy'.

Winter 1968 and showbiz legend Judy Garland arrives in swinging London to perform in a sell out run at Talk of the Town. It is 30 years since she shot to global stardom inThe Wizard of Oz, but if her voice has weakened, its dramatic intensity has only grown. As she prepares for the show, she battles with management, charms musicians, and reminisces with friends and adoring fans, her wit and warmth shine through. Even her dreams of romance seem undimmed as she embarks on a courtship with Mickey Dean's, her soon to be fifth husband. And yet Judy is fragile. After working for 45 of her 47 years, she is exhausted; haunted by memories of a childhood lost to Hollywood; gripped by a desire to be back home with her kids. Will she have the strength to go on?

Starring Renee Zellwenger, Jess Buckley, Finn Wittrock and Michael Gambon. The film won numerous awards.
